There is really no progress on the project for the last… 1 year and 2 months! Since the last update, I have been focusing on sCMS, and on 2 new projects OpenWare and OpenWare Gaming.
sCMS started as a free and lightweight content management system, not looking to compete with others like Joomla, or even WordPress. When partially complete, sCMS will be used for this website as well, since it will be very light and fast (or at least, that’s what I aim for).
OpenWare – OpenWare Gaming
Well, this is a new project, I’m creating with a friend. Actually it is a double project. Triple I might say. OpenWare is based on sCMS, at least from the experiences I’ve collected working on sCMS, as the code was written from scratch. OpenWare is promoting free and opensource software, and we currently have an average of 20 visitors per day (we didn’t do any promotion, except for a facebook page, and some ads on Google Adsense). OpenWare Gaming is a small side project, based on YourArcadeScript, from which we are trying to cover some of the expenses occured by running OpenWare (we host it on a VPS).

v0.5 beta4 gone public!

Hey there! How are you?
It’s been a couple days since the last post/twitter update. v0.5.beta 4 has been released a few minutes ago! It has many additions, fixes & it’s more customizable than v0.4/v0.5.beta 3. On the last blogpost I added the non-final change log, and here you can see the final change log! We have a long way to reach the stable version, and I’m starting to “skip” v0.5 and go directly to v1.0 if I finish the admin panel. Anyway, here is the -final- changelog for v0.5.beta4:

While we were running some tests to check how the main page is seen from a variety of browsers on different OSes, we thought it would be nice to take some screenshots of the up and coming v0.5 beta4, and share them here with you. Care to share an opinion?

v0.5.beta4 info (the AJAX and others)

I didn’t like using meta-refresh for updating the stats. It was putting a lot of stress to the server, and it can easily make your host tell you “Hey, We don’t take kindly to server-stressers like you ’round here!”.
So v0.5 beta4 has another major upgrade. Ajax reload! You can safely set it to lower than 60 seconds (which was the recommended lower limit).
There is still an obstacle however… When the user changes language it still reloads the page, but it’s a beginning. It’s the first time I use Javascript/AJAX. The code was found on Mark Voss’s blog, and after a couple modifications it’s ready. (I still need to figure out how to change language on-the-fly without reloading the page).

v0.5 beta3 released!

After lots of programming and testing, v0.5 beta3 is now live. This beta introduces the admin area (or admin panel).
Right now you can:
- Change the scconfig.php file (the main site configuration)
- Change the config.php file (the admin configuration)
- Check for new versions
- See some news by the team on the home (on the stable version you’ll be able to disable news fetching).
But you can’t:
- Change info on the shoutcast server
- Change the pin(*) (you’ll be able to on the stable version)
- Update if a new version is found
- See for new beta versions.

I’ve uploaded 2 screenshots on the screenshots page from the up and coming administrator panel. Nothing fancy (but that’s the concept of this project), but it will sure be helpful. Stay tuned for more screenshots, and of course, v0.5 beta 3.

Hello world!

How r u doin? Here I’ll be posting from time to time some info for the project, some requests to anyone who can help etc.
Right now I’m making the admin panel. So far you can login/logout and check for updates. Next to add is editing the configuration files, so you can make any changes you want. Some basic template editing will also be done since on the config file you choose the colors of the page and a background image (if you want to use one).
