It’s been a couple days since the last post/twitter update. v0.5.beta 4 has been released a few minutes ago! It has many additions, fixes & it’s more customizable than v0.4/v0.5.beta 3. On the last blogpost I added the non-final change log, and here you can see the final change log! We have a long way to reach the stable version, and I’m starting to “skip” v0.5 and go directly to v1.0 if I finish the admin panel. Anyway, here is the -final- changelog for v0.5.beta4:

]]>So v0.5 beta4 has another major upgrade. Ajax reload! You can safely set it to lower than 60 seconds (which was the recommended lower limit).
There is still an obstacle however… When the user changes language it still reloads the page, but it’s a beginning. It’s the first time I use Javascript/AJAX. The code was found on Mark Voss’s blog, and after a couple modifications it’s ready. (I still need to figure out how to change language on-the-fly without reloading the page).
Still need to fix some minor errors on the admin area, one of them being that the “Config file editor” is not loading correctly all the details from the config file.

]]>Right now you can:
- Change the scconfig.php file (the main site configuration)
- Change the config.php file (the admin configuration)
- Check for new versions
- See some news by the team on the home (on the stable version you’ll be able to disable news fetching).
But you can’t:
- Change info on the shoutcast server
- Change the pin(*) (you’ll be able to on the stable version)
- Update if a new version is found
- See for new beta versions.
With security in mind, the admin password and the pin(*) are encrypted using both md5 and sha1. I wanted to encrypt the shoutcast server’s password aswell, but I can’t get the original key from the hashes, so it’s stored unencrypted on the configuration file.
(*)If you want to change any of the details on the admin config file (config.php), you must enter the pin (a 4 number passkey) which was generated on the installation. If you forget it, you have to reupload the install folder and go straight to step 4 (it is linked on the main page of the installer).
The admin area requires allow_url_fopen to be allowed. Contact your hoster or upload a php file with
<? phpinfo(); ?>
in it and access it from your browser. Search for “allow_url_fopen”. If it’s off contact your hoster to work it out, or you won’t be able to see the latest news. Version checking can also be done using the iframe-variant (it’s linked on the bottom of the version check page).
You also must chmod the base folder and the “admin” folder to 777 during installation. If you can’t the install will fail, and you’ll have to do it manually (which means no playlist generation so no local playlist links will be available for you, sorry). There is a file “scconfig_tpl.php” which in this case you should edit it, rename it to “scconfig.php” and you are ready to go. Since the admin area’s password and pin are encrypted, you can’t “hand-edit” it, so we have uploaded here a page where you can generate the file, and save the contents as “config.php” on your “admin” folder. No details are saved by us, so you are safe.
Until the final version comes out, and until we short out a way to encrypt the Shoutcast Server’s password on the administration config, just enter a random string. (And if you enter the real password, you won’t be able to make any modifications to Shoutcast Server since this area is not implemented yet.)
V0.5 beta 4 works will begin tomorrow. Need a break from all that coding/debugging/testing/writing :D

Right now I’m making the admin panel. So far you can login/logout and check for updates. Next to add is editing the configuration files, so you can make any changes you want. Some basic template editing will also be done since on the config file you choose the colors of the page and a background image (if you want to use one).
After this is done, v0.5 beta3 will be available for download and testing, and I will start working on beta 4. After beta 4, will come v0.5.RC (Release Candidate, which will consist of minor changes & of course translations) and then the stable v0.5 which will be ready to use on a production environment. Sure, you can use an alpha/beta/RC version, but it’s not considered stable.
